I have been meaning to write a blog for a while on the different supplements I take on a daily basis and how I think they benefit me. Personally, I feel everyone should be taking some kind of supplement/s as they really can make a difference to both your body and mind.
I first started wondering whether I should take supplements a few years ago when I realised that my horse benefited from all these expensive supplements that I was putting into her feeds!
Below, I have listed the supplements I personally take and the reasons why I do!
Evening Primrose Oil (in capsule form)- definitely the natural wonder supplement of them all, their are sooo many benefits but the reason I take primrose oil is because I suffer with really bad cramping/ period pains, this was recommended by a friend and I have not looked back! Other benefits include that it helps to improve your skin condition, help reduce high blood pressure and improves heart health. These are only a few benefits and at the end of the day, there is no harm in taking natural remedies like evening primrose oil.
Magnesium- I take magnesium for the reason of energy production, I used to feel really tired and low on energy but have found magnesium has definitely helped how I feel. Other benefits include supporting muscle and nerve function, lowers blood pressure, anti inflammatory benefits and supposedly promotes restful sleep.
Iron and B complex- I buy a specific brand which includes both iron and Vitamin B Complex, this can be bought off Amazon (I have included a picture to show you the packaging). It comes with two different types of tablets, one which is iron and the other which is vitamin B, you take one of each daily. So what are the benefits? I take these for the reason that they help with my energy levels, iron supports a reduction in fatigue and tiredness, another reason is for my immunity (helps supports normal immune) as I tend to have a low immunity, helps supports hormonal balance for women and it also helps support cognitive function.
Vitamin D- These tend to come in the form as small capsules and I like to call them the sunshine vitamin. I take these for the benefit that they support a healthy immune system and the reduction of depression (I am not a sad person but if I lack sunshine, I can become quite down!). Vitamin D can be found in many foods however I feel taking one capsule of Vitamin D a day can just help me ticking over and I really have felt a great benefit from being on these.
Vitamin C- These are in the form of dissolvable tablets which usually come in orange flavour and can be taken in the form of a drink, however I now take Berrocca due to it including a range of different vitamins and minerals. Vitamin C itself helps to boost immunity, stimulates your mind and thinking, also it can help to lower your blood pressure.
Glucosamine- I never used to take glucosamine until I discovered my dad takes it and so I thought I would give it a go, I suffer with bad knees which I think is from riding.. I know its bad that I'm only 20 and suffer with bad joints already whoops! So the main benefit of glucosamine is that it reduces inflammatory and supports healthy joints. You can take a herbal form (turmeric) which does basically the same thing which is what I feed my horse and she seems to do well of it.
I hope you enjoyed my blog and I would advice doing a bit of research on different supplements and what ones would benefit you, give them a go and see if you see a difference! I would reccommend health span, Holland and Barrett and Amazon if you are looking to buy some. Any Questions, feel free to drop me a message on instagram and I will see if I can help you!
